Graduate students from Asia, the Pacific, the United States, and other parts of the world can receive financial assistance through the East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship program as they pursue their Master’s or doctoral degrees at the University of Hawaii. The fellowship offers chances for networking and professional growth in addition to paying for tuition, fees, and other costs. The initiative seeks to foster improved communication and cooperation amongst individuals from many nations and areas.
Additionally
Graduate students from Asia, the Pacific, and the United States can receive master’s and doctoral funding through the East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship in order to take part in leadership development, residential community building, educational, and cultural programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate studies at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa (UHM). Receiving an East-West Center fellowship at UHM entails more than just getting a financial assistance award. Graduate student fellows at the East-West Center live together and engage in both intellectual and social activities with one another because the main goals of the institution are to foster an understanding of the Asia-Pacific community and to prepare students for future leadership roles.
They are a recognizable group committed to the idea of creating an Asia-Pacific community from the very beginning. EWC graduate degree fellows forge friendships and lifelong ties to a network of people dedicated to positive change in the Asia Pacific region through team-building exercises, leadership development projects and internships, education about the region, cultural exchange, educational enrichment events, community service, and service learning projects.
The graduate degree fellowship pays for books, housing in an East-West Center dormitory, general tuition and fees for UHM graduate programs, as well as a portion of the cost of meals, health insurance, and incidental expenditures. During the fellow’s study year, funding for field research and conference presentations is made available on a competitive basis.
Applications are being accepted for the East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship from:
- United States citizens or long-term residents
- Russians and residents of other Pacific and Asian nations
The selection of students gives preference to candidates who have shown a dedication to the Asia Pacific region.
